As I travel down life's highway,
I want to check my list.
To make sure every things okay,
And there's nothing that I've missed.
Did I do a good deed today?
Did I lend a helping hand?
Did I watch what I say,
As not to hurt my fellow man?
Did I say how much I appreciate you,
Or how much I really care?
Did I say thanks for all you do?
I've got lots of love to spare.
Did I give someone a hug,
And give them encouragement?
or did I give them a shrug,
And say, "That's their predicament?"
Did I help the poor & needy,
With food, clothes and such?
or was I really greedy,
And say, "I can't give them that much?"
Was I selfish in my prayers,
Asking only things for me?
Or did I shed lots of tears,
For others healing, peace and needs?
Oh Lord forgive me if I stumble,
And If I failed at any of these.
I pray you make me humble,
And take me to my knees.
So when I've reached the end of the road,
And I've finally passed the test.
I know I'll walk those streets of Gold,
And be glad I checked my list.
