Scholarships
* Trenton Beckham of Cape Girardeau received the David J. Loschky Scholarship from the Department of Economics at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. He is a senior majoring in finance and economics.
Honors, achievements
* Holli Shemonia, a senior at Scott City High School, was selected as an honorable-mention student in the 2010 Missouri Scholars 100, a statewide program that honors Missouri's top academic students. The program is sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals. Schools nominate students and selection is based on grade point average and college placement exams.
* Kelsey Overbeck, Zach Urhahn, Taylor Franke and Alicea Mahnken, students at Saxony Lutheran High School, received awards at the 35th annual Regional High School Art Show at the Sikeston Depot Museum. Overbeck took third place in Mixed Media, Urhahn took third place in photography, Franke received honorable mention in painting and Mahnken received honorable mention in printmaking.
* Tori Winter and Kristen Dippold, students at Saxony Lutheran High School, received second and third place respectively in the Jackson VFW poster contest.
* Joshua Vogel, a seventh-grade student at Trinity Lutheran School won the school geography bee. He is qualified to compete in a state competition April 9 in Moberly, Mo.
