Stadiums and taxes

I see where the St. Louis Rams want a new stadium built. Quit depending on taxpayers. If the people in these sports want a bigger stadium, take a pay cut.

Tower location

I can tell you one thing: As with coal-fired power plants, there would be a collective uproar if AT&T wanted to construct a huge cellphone tower in or even near an upscale Cape Girardeau neighborhood of the affluent.

School tax

Regarding the Altenburg School tax increase: Do not be misled; it is a 22 percent increase on your taxes. The people in the area cannot afford such an increase. In the article in the newspaper, one board member said they addressed the concerns from the 2010 election. They have not addressed the out-of-district students and the minimal tuition they give the district. An out-of-district student receives no money from the state. That means no additional money for attendance, etc., comes in for that student. More than 30 students are out of district minus the teachers' children. Why should the taxpayers allow freeloaders to come in and receive an education on our backs?

Media accountability

The woman who set the Paula Deen racial scandal into motion has spoken out for the first time since it broke last month, telling CNN that her lawsuit "has never been about the N-word." That was not what CNN, and all the other news media have been reporting, of which has destroyed all of Paula Deen's business. This is another example how the news media keeps reporting false information and are getting by with it. They should have to pay. They destroy a person's life but are not held accountable.

Speak Out's reach

If you don't think Speak Out has motivated contributors and readers all over the nation, think again. A guy currently somewhere way out west recently telephoned to tell me he had called in a comment and that it was published.

Thanks to libraries

Thanks to the American Library Association (ALA) and all of the public libraries across the land that will be providing assistance and information for those wanting to study the insurance options offered under the Affordable Health Care Act, which will start enrolling those who desire this fall.

Obama and gas

Comrade President Obama is now working on his stated goal to push the price of gasoline up to $7 per gallon. Thanks a lot, Mr. President. I'm so glad the Democrats are on the side of the working man because the working man is a dying breed in this country.
