Health center continues to provide WIC services

The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center announced it signed a contract with the Missouri Department of Health to continue to provide WIC services for 2007. Under the contract, the health center will be able to serve 1,420 people eligible for WIC each month. WIC is the special supplemental food program for women, infants and children that provides specific nutritious supplemental foods and nutrition education at no cost to pregnant and breast-feeding women, postpartum teens, infants and children under 5 years old. WIC participants must meet WIC income guidelines and are determined by health professionals to be at nutritional risk. Anyone interested in applying for WIC or who needs more information about the program should contact the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center at 335-4330.
