PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- Allen and Brenda Wrather of Portageville, formerly of Oran, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter, Julia Lee Wrather of Columbia, Mo., to Mark Jonathan Baker of Jefferson City, Mo. He is the son of Ronnie and Bonnie Baker of Linn, Mo.

Wrather is a 2000 graduate of Portageville High School, and received a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics from the University of Missouri in 2004. She expects to receive a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2008.

Baker is a 2000 graduate of Linn High School, and received a bachelor's degree in agribusiness management from the University of Missouri in 2004. He is a claims adjuster with Farm Bureau Insurance in Fulton, Mo.

A Jan. 5, 2008, wedding is planned at First United Methodist Church in Portageville.
