Doug and Linda Groesbeck of Charles City, Iowa, formerly of Cape Girardeau, announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Ruth Groesbeck, to Jeffrey Scott Griswold, both of Lenexa, Kan. He is the son of Tony and Kathleen Griswold of Steelville, Mo.

Groesbeck is a 1996 graduate of Central High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in computer information systems from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. She is employed at Sprint in Kansas City.

Griswold is a 1998 graduate of Steelville High School. He received a bachelor of music degree in trombone performance from Southwest University. He is a personal banker at Premier Bank in Kansas City.

An October wedding is planned at Asbury United Methodist Church in Kansas City.
