house under construction offers homeowners a nearly blank canvas for design. It gives the advantage of having never been anyone else's decorating backdrop.

Midwest Construction Co. is building the house at 2124 Perryville Road in Cape Girardeau and a number of local builders and craftsman have contributed to the project. The house is being featured during the "Parade of Homes," today through Oct. 10.

This home is a basic brick ranch with a two-car garage, and plenty of extra features like surround sound, custom cabinets and flooring and custom window treatments.

The house has a level, easily-maintained yard, which will be landscaped by Global Golf. There is a covered entryway and elegant brick steps leading up to the door.

The foyer has sand-colored ceramic tile flooring. To the right is the dining room, which features two large windows for volumes of natural light and an Old World-style pendulum light fixture to add ambience to family dining and entertaining.

The living room features a cathedral ceiling with a cozy gas log fireplace. The plush carpeting is in shades of brown, tan and cream. Two large windows overlook the rear deck and back yard.

The kitchen is one of this home's primary delights, featuring customized, rich oak cabinets with polished nickel pulls, ceramic tile flooring and countertops that match the floor's color. The kitchen also will feature modern stainless steel appliances.

The master suite includes a bedroom that is blessed with natural light from two large windows, a large walk-in closet and a luxurious master bathroom with garden-style whirlpool tub encased in handsome oak. The master bath was thoughtfully designed to include a step-in shower and separated toilet area.

The house also has two other bedrooms and a main bath. All of the bedrooms have large windows and ceiling fans, and could easily be adapted to other purposes.

The basement is not finished, but is roughed-in to include stud walls and basic bathroom plumbing. The space could easily be used for a family or hobby room. Large sliding windows at the rear give the downstairs increased versatility with a source of natural light.

This home is listed at $189,900, and is available for viewing through Prudential Bridgeport Realtors, 335-0121.
