This award is to recognize a worthy local person who has contributed to his or her community in an outstanding voluntary manner. Dr. Nickell, a professor of history at Southeast Missouri State University, was given this award for his dedication to preserving the history of the local area. Nickell is also the director of the Center for Regional History.
