New McKendree Bible school held this week
New McKendree Church will be holding its " Galactic Blast" vacation Bible school from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday at the South Campus launch pad in Jackson. A light meal will be served daily at 5:30 p.m. The vacation Bible school is open to the community for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Registration forms are available at the information centers at the South Campus site and the High Street Campus and at the church office. Completed forms can be turned in during worship services or at the church office. Register by calling the church office at 243-8487.
23rd annual Capaha Classic planned
The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will hold the 23rd annual Capaha Classic 5K run and Children's one-mile run Saturday at the Capaha Park. The cost of the event will be $16 for participants who register before Friday and $ 20 for those who register on the day of the race. Registration will be from 6:45 to 7:40 a.m. Saturday. All participants will receive a Capaha Classic T-shirt and refreshments after the race. The 5K run will begin at 8 a.m. and the children's one-mile run will begin at 8:45 a.m. The children's race is open to children ages 6 to 12.

Parks & Rec Day set for Osage Centre
The Osage Community Centre will hold the 10th annual Park & Rec Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. This event will be a free event for children of all ages. The Southeast Missourian Jr. and the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will team up to bring the children a day of games, activities, crafts, prizes and giveaways. This year's event features a petting zoo, big slide, free ice cream and more. For questions, call 388-2785.
Family reunion planned for Saturday
The Charles F. and Josephine Ludwig family reunion will feature a catered meal, but local families should bring a dessert to share. Lunch will be served at noon Saturday at St. John's United Church of Christ on Route FF west of Fruitland. For more information, call 243-5522 or 335-6878.
