"Sing, America, Sing," in its fifth year, will run the gamut of American musical heritage in just over two hours. The production will showcase Mike Dumey's Starz on the Rise with forays into vaudeville, big band, Motown, Broadway and contemporary and classic country musical styles. All eight of the singers have worked with Dumey, choir director for Cape Girardeau Central Junior High, in the past, and this year's cast boasts higher levels of dance training than ever before. Dumey said he picked participants for Starz on the Rise because they have great potential for the stage. He also said the troupe gives talented young people opportunities to cut their teeth in the entertainment industry with a semiprofessional performance.

Dinner shows will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Aug. 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28 at Plaza Conference Center. There will be a special brunch show at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 15. Tickets are $35, and include the meal. Value dates, which are 10 percent off, are Friday and Aug. 15.
