John R. and DeAnn Welch of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittni Marie Welch, to James R. Baker. He is the son of Bonnie Baker of Scott City.

Welch is a 2006 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School. She was certified in respiratory therapy in 2009. She is working in the family business at welch Construction Supply in Cape Girardeau.

Baker is a 2007 graduate of Scott City High School. He was certified as an emergency medical technician in 2008. He is employed in the emergency department at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

A beach wedding is planned in October in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
