The Walmart in Cape Girardeau recently donated $1,250 to Scott City Elementary School for the teachers rewards program. The program was created to help offset some of the cost associated with educators having to buy classroom supplies out of their own pockets. It is estimated that educators spend about $500 each year for school supplies, including snacks for students who may not have regular access to food. Ten Scott City teachers received a check of $100 with one educator receiving a $250 check as a grand prize recipient of a hat drawing.
