Notre Dame Regional High School is hosting a senior citizen spring dance from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the school cafeteria. The Notre Dame Family Career and Community Leaders of America will be sponsoring a dance for area senior citizens. The dance will feature sounds from the All Stars Band. Christian school has showcase and open house

Cape Christian School will be having its 10th annual showcase/open house from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. This is an opportunity for prospective students and their parents to see highlights from the school year including art projects, science exhibits and recitations as well as meet teachers, view curriculum and tour facilities. Cape Christian School is represented by students from more than 25 area churches. The school is at 1855 Perryville Road. For more information, call 335-8333.

Photography group holds monthly meeting Thursday

The River Region Photography Association will have its monthly meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. Anyone interested in photography is invited to attend, regardless of level of experience. The meeting will include discussions of lighting, Photoshop and proper camera settings.

5K run/walk to benefit woman with rare cancer

The Michelle Bundy 5K Run/Walk will be at 8 a.m. Saturday at Capaha Park. Proceeds go to Michelle Bundy, a young mother recently diagnosed with epithelioid angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. Registration for the run is $15 or $20 for same-day registration. Donations can be made payable to "The Michelle Bundy Cancer Fund" and sent to 1802 Woodlawn Ave., Cape Girardeau, MO 63701. WSIU plans fun day for families at Cedarhurst

WSIU Public Broadcasting and Cedarhurst Center for the Arts will be having a fun-filled day for families from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Cedarhurst. The day will feature PBS KIDS host Mr. Steve. Cedarhurst is at 2600 Richview Road in Mount Vernon, Ill.

Parish to serve spring dinner in New Hamburg

St. Lawrence Parish Center of New Hamburg, Mo., will have a spring dinner from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 3. The dinner will include fried chicken, dressing, chicken and dumplings, buttered potatoes, slaw, corn, drink and dessert. Price for adults is $8, $4 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and younger. Carry-outs will be available.

Writing competition accepting entries

Entries are being accepted for the Great Beginnings and Great Successes Writing Competition sponsored by the Heartland Writers Guild. The Great Beginnings portion of the competition is for works that have not been published or accepted for publication.
