Amanda Leigh Sanchez and Randy Eugene Smith II of Houston, Texas, announce their engagement. She is the daughter of Carlos Sanchez of Navasota, Texas, and the late Tammy Carrell of Shiro, Texas. Smith is the son of Randy Smith of Richmond, Calif., and Karen Smith of Cape Girardeau.

Sanchez is a 2005 graduate of Anderson Shiro High School. She received a bachelor of arts degree in mass communication from Sam Houston State University in 2010.

Smith is a 2002 graduate of Central High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Houston in 2010, and expects to receive a master of science degree in accounting in December. He is employed by Gainer, Donnelly and Desroches CPA firm in Houston.

An Aug. 13 wedding is planned at Spindletop Chapel in Tomball, Texas.
