Richard and Kathy McCuan of Jackson announce the engagement of their daughter, Caitlin McCuan, to Brian Schlichting. He is the son of Roger and Christine Schlichting of Frohna, Mo.

McCuan is a 2003 graduate of Jackson High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and is taking courses through American Institute of Banking to earn a bank marketing degree. She is employed at the Bank of Missouri.

Schlichting is a 2002 graduate of Perryville High School. He received a degree in parks, recreation and tourism from UMC in 2006. He is parks and recreation coordinator with city of Cape Girardeau.

An Oct. 1 wedding is planned at Flower Mountain Estate in Sevierville, Tenn.
