Gayla Crabtree of Cape Girardeau announces the engagement of her daughter, Tabatha Ann Crabtree, to Wayne Thomas Essner. He is the son of Ralph and Donna Essner of Kelso, Mo. Crabtree is also the daughter of the late Michael Crabtree.

Crabtree is a graduate of Scott City High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Southeast Missouri State University. She is employed at Cargill in Sikeston, Mo.

Essner is a graduate of Notre Dame High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in ag business from Southeast. He is employed at Cargill in Charleston, Mo.

A Sept. 3 wedding is planned at St. Augustine Church in Kelso.
