Taking classes at the center gives you a lot more time to experience the behind-the-scenes action of your career choice. Instead of having a professional person doing that type of job, you get the chance to try the job for yourself. The Broadcast Production course involves working with cameras and learning how to become a director. Being able to use the camera on my own and knowing that I can make a video without being told what to do by a teacher helps me reach a goal...

Instead of having a professional person doing that type of job, you get the chance to try the job for yourself. The Broadcast Production course involves working with cameras and learning how to become a director. Being able to use the camera on my own and knowing that I can make a video without being told what to do by a teacher helps me reach a goal.

Our teacher is Randy McWilson, who has had the opportunity to shoot many different videos for people, some of them amazing, like the Travis Lee Band and Skillet.

I like that three-hour blocks at the center allow achievement; there is no time for in one-hour classes. The teachers of these courses make the learning fun, so you can actually enjoy the one you are taking and get something out of it.

Alyssa Coots is a senior at Cape Girardeau Central High School. She is on the Tigers swim team and loves her Broadcast Production course at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center. In her spare time, she writes stories and songs.
