Vavak is a graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University. She is a registered nurse in NICU at Saint Francis Medical Center.

Eftink is a graduate of Notre Dame. He received a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering from Kansas State University. He is employed at Double D Supply Co. in Sikeston, Mo.

A March 3, 2012, wedding is planned at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran.
