The Ruopp and Ruopp Dentistry gathered 173 pounds of candy from the community to give to the troops in Afghanistan. The event ran from Oct. 31 to Nov. 10. They gave $1 for every pound of candy brought in as well as a flashing toothbrush. The candies will be sent to Operation Gratitude with the California National Guard. Soldiers request certain candies that Operation Gratitude will send over. Ruopp and Ruopp will send more than 50 letters written by children for the soldiers. Each package sent to the soldier will include a letter written by a child. The troops will receive their packages by December. Last year, Operation Gratitude sent about 125 tons of candies for more than 60,000 soldiers.
