Shelby Mangels, left, Katie Newell and Emilie Beard, members of the Oak Ridge FCCLA club, hosted a book drive to bring some cheer to the children at Cardinal Glennon Children's hospital in St. Louis. Items collected included 1,283 books, 403 movies and 13 games. They were surprised by the outcome of their book drive. David Ish, far right, of Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, could only take about half of the donation, so the remainder was donated to Child Life Services at the Children's Hospital. Beard's brother, Trenton, is a cancer patient at Cardinal Glennon. During a visit for a treatment he noticed that there was not a very good selection of DVDs. That's when the girls decided that it would be a great project to start a collection.
