St. Denis Parish Center in Benton, Mo., will host a Lenten luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dennis Lowe.
St. Lawrence Parish Center in New Hamburg, Mo., is hosting a spring dinner and country store from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 18. Tickets are available for adults at $8, children 6 to 12 $4 and children 5 and younger are free. Carry-outs are available.
The Cape Girardeau School District will host kindergarten enrollment and screening Monday to Thursday for all children who will be attending kindergarten for the 2012-2013 school year. To be eligible for kindergarten, children must turn 5 years of age on or before July 31. Parents are asked to bring a copy of their child's immunization record, birth certificate, child's Social Security number and proof of address (utility or cable bill). Call the Parents as Teachers office at 651-3703 to set up a child's screening appointment. No walk-ins will be accepted. The screening takes about 1 1/2 hours, and will be held at 301 N. Clark Ave., room 214.

The Perkins Fire Department will sponsor its third annual fried chicken dinner March 18. Food will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The all-you-can eat dinner will cost $7 for adults, $4 for children. Children ages 5 and under can eat for free. All of the proceeds raised from the dinner will go to the Kenny Rogers Children's Center. A Stoeger air gun will be given away.
No Other Name, a contemporary Christian band based out of Nashville Tenn., will perform at Miner Baptist Church in Sikeston, Mo., at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. today. The group will also give a performance later at Bethany Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau starting at 6 p.m. The group, which gets its name from Acts 4:12, is performing at both venues as part of its START Tour. Admission to all three performances is free.
