Perryville Elks Lodge 2701 has chosen Perryville High School senior Josh Pellikan as its February 2012 Student of the Month. Paul Turner, left, of the Elks, presents Pellikan with a $500 scholarship; on the right is Jeff Steffens, assistant principal at Perryville High School. Pellikan has been a four-year member of the football and weightlifting teams. He was co-captain of the football team this year. He is a member of National Honor Society, chamber choir, and has been involved with track and concert choir. Pellikan will attend Maryville University after graduating and plans to earn a doctorate in physical therapy.
Plaza Tire Service recently raised $17,064 for the local Muscular Dystrophy Association chapter during the organization's annual Shamrocks campaign. The companies' stores sold green shamrocks for a $1 and gold shamrocks for $5 to their patrons from the middle of February through St. Patrick's Day.
