Furry 5K and Fun Walk set for June 15

The Furry 5K and one-mile Fun Walk, benefiting Saint Francis Medical Center's Inpatient Rehabilitation pet therapy program, is scheduled for 8 a.m. June 15 at Missouri Running Company in Cape Girardeau. Dogs are welcome to run with participants. Dogs must be up to date on immunizations, be kept on leashes at all times and must be cleaned up after. Cost to register is $20 before June 1 and $25 after. Writers workshop scheduled for June 8

Heartland Writers Guild and the Cape Girardeau River Heritage Museum are sponsoring the workshop, "Getting Published: Tips for Writing and Marketing your Work" from 9 a.m. to noon June 8 at the River Heritage Museum, 538 Independence St. Rob Simbeck of Nashville, Tenn., will be the speaker. Stamp Out Hunger food drive to be held

The annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive is scheduled for Saturday. Residents are asked to place non-perishable food items in a bag by their mailbox for letter carriers to collect. Donations will go to area food banks for individuals in need. The food drive is sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers.
