KELSO, Mo. -- Tim and Annita Layton of Kelso announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittany Ann Layton, to Ricky Seth Carpenter, both of Springfield, Mo. He is the son of Lester and Pamela Carpenter of Doniphan, Mo.

Layton is a 2008 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School. She received degrees in dietetics and biomedical sciences from Missouri State University in Springfield, and is completing a dietetic internship at Cox College in Springfield. She has accepted a position as a clinical dietitian at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

Carpenter is a 2006 graduate of Doniphan High School. He received degrees in criminology and sociology from Missouri State University. He is a corrections officer with Greene County Sheriff's Department in Springfield.

A June 15 wedding is planned.
