Saxony Christmas concert set Monday

The Saxony Lutheran High School Christmas Concert will be 7 p.m. Monday at the school in Jackson and will feature the school band and choirs. A freewill offering will be accepted to support the music program.

Live Nativity scheduled Saturday

Saxon Lutheran Memorial in Frohna, Missouri, will host a live Nativity from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, telling the Christmas story through drama, song and narration.

Breakfast, bake sale in Apple Creek today

A breakfast and bake sale, sponsored by the Men's Club, will be held from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. today at St. Joseph Church Hall in Apple Creek, Missouri. The menu will include sausage, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, biscuits and gravy, homemade coffeecake and drink. The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children ages 5 through 12. Carryouts will be available.

Chorale sets Christmas concert Jan. 3

The Perry County Lutheran Chorale will host a Christmas concert at 4 p.m. Jan. 3 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 304 County Road 515 in New Wells. Now in its 10th season, the chorale is under the direction of Tyson Wunderlich. The program will include favorites such as "O Holy Night," "The Hallelujah Chorus," "There Shall a Star" and "Bring a Torch, Jeannette Isabella." Admission is free; a freewill offering will be accepted in support of the chorale.

The Meals With Friends menues fort the last two weeks of December are as follows:

Dec. 14 through 18

  • Monday: Beanie weanies, macaroni and cheese, fruit, dessert, bread
  • Tuesday: Chicken and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit, dessert, bread
  • Wednesday; Ham and beans, fruit, dessert, cornbread
  • Thursday; Spaghetti, green beans, fruit, dessert, bread
  • Friday: Leftovers

Dec. 21 through 23

  • Monday; Chicken and vegetable stew, fruit, dessert, bread
  • Tuesday: Sloppy Joes, green beans, fruit, dessert
  • Wednesday: Ham sandwiches
  • Thursday Friday: No meals

Blood drives at mall, outlets

American Red Cross blood drives will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at West Park Mall and Sikeston Outlet Stores. Those who attempt to donate will be entered to be one of River Radio's 25 finalists to win a 2015 Jeep Cherokee courtesy of Morlan Chrysler.
