Meals with Friends menus set

The Salvation Army's Meals with Friends will run from noon to 1 p.m. Jan. 25 to 29. The menus are as follows:

  • Monday: Baked chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, bread, fruit and dessert
  • Tuesday: Spaghetti, green beans, bread, fruit and dessert
  • Wednesday: Ham, stuffing, peas, bread, fruit and dessert
  • Thursday: Turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, bread, fruit and dessert
  • Friday: Leftovers

Support group meeting planned

The Bereaved Parents Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. tomorrow at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 233 W. Adams St. in Jackson. The focus of this meeting will be "Finding Light in the Darkness of Grief." Blood drives scheduled

The Red Cross urges all eligible to donate blood. All types are needed, especially O, AB, B negative and A negative.

  • 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8201 Main St. in Altenburg, Missouri.

Blood drives in Stoddard County include:

  • 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Bloomfield High School, 301 W. Missouri St. in Bloomfield, Missouri.
  • 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at Pleasant Grove Community Church, 13798 E. State Highway H in Dexter, Missouri.
  • 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at the Mingo Job Corps Center, 4253 State Highway T in Puxico, Missouri.

Super Kids Race Day event announced

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department's Super Kids Race Day event will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, at the Southeast Missouri State University Student Recreation Center-North. The event is open to all children up to 15 years old, and all participants will receive a Super Kids Race Day T-shirt and participation ribbon. The cost for the event is $10 for an individual child, and $8 for each additional child for those who register by Feb. 2. From Feb. 3 through the day of the race, an individual child will cost $12, and each additional child $10. Registration will run from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration forms are available at the A.C. Brase Arena Building, the Osage Centre and the Shawnee Park Center. Men's health event scheduled

Saint Francis Healthcare System is hosting its third annual Better Health, Better Man: Men's Health Event on Thursday, Feb. 11. Check-in will begin at 5 p.m. and speaker sessions will start at 6 p.m. at Isle Casino Cape Girardeau, 777 N. Main St. The event will provide the opportunity for men and their significant others to learn about a variety of men's health issues, and the speaker sessions will be presented by experts from Saint Francis.

The free event also will include a variety of local exhibitors. Door prizes will be given away throughout the night and food and drinks will be served.
