Pulled pork dinner to be held

A pulled pork dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Eisleben Lutheran Church, 432 Lutheran Lane in Scott City. The meal will include pulled pork, baked beans, scalloped potatoes, slaw, a piece of homemade cake or pie and a drink. The meal will cost $9 for adults, $4 for ages 6 to 10 and will be free for children 5 and younger. Proceeds from the meal will be put toward church improvements. Kids Against Hunger fundraiser set

Bandiez Couture and Tiny Co. have planned a fundraiser for Kids Against Hunger from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 27, at Simply Swirled, 244 S. Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau. The businesses will donate 30 percent of their headband and T-shirt sales to Kids Against Hunger to help end child hunger in the United States and developing countries. Simply Swirled will donate 20 percent of the evening’s profits to the charity as well. Threadz also will be present to print color T-shirts for purchase. Fundraising tickets will be available and must be given at check-out for donation percentages to be given. Herbs workshop scheduled

“Herbs: From the Garden to the Kitchen” will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, at the Shawnee Park Center, 835 S. West End Blvd. in Cape Girardeau. The class will teach participants how to start, grow and harvest various culinary herbs, and will include cooking techniques using herbs to enhance the flavor of meals.

Praise concert series planned

Chick-fil-A will host a Summer Praise Concert Series from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 28; Saturday, July 30; Tuesday, Aug. 30; and Saturday, Sept. 24, at US Bank, 3060 William St. in Cape Girardeau. The donation-based concerts will benefit global missions. The first concert on June 28 will feature Glorious Than I, an alternative Christian rock band. Attendees are encouraged to park in the rear parking area of West Park Mall, 3049 William St., and a free shuttle service will be available for transport to the venue. Horseback riding day camps offered

Rolling Hills Farm and Equine LLC will host horseback riding day camps from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, and Wednesday, July 20, at the farm, 386 Taiga Lane in Cape Girardeau. The camps will cost $50 per day and participants must be 8 years old or older. Participants will learn about safety, horse grooming, tacking, saddling, riding, feeding, maintenance, health care and competitive riding. Benefit golf tournament planned

The 25th annual Cape Central High School Benefit Golf Tournament will be Friday, July 8, at the Cape Girardeau Country Club, 250 Country Club Drive in Cape Girardeau. Tee-off times are available in the morning and afternoon. Registration will cost $85 per individual golfer or $340 for a team. Skins and mulligans each will cost $20 per team. Sponsorship levels are available for purchase. Registration and payment must be received by Monday, July 4, and entry forms are available at cape.k12.mo.us/chs/chsbooster or by emailing chsboosterclub@capetigers.com. All proceeds will benefit extracurricular activities and assist in the recognition of students at Cape Girardeau Central High School.

Annual Capaha Classic 5K set

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will host the 29th annual Capaha Classic 5K and Children’s One-Mile Run starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at Capaha Park, the intersection of Broadway and West End Boulevard in Cape Girardeau. The event will cost $15 for those who register by July 6 and will cost $20 for day-of registration. Registration will begin at 6:45 a.m. and run until 7:40 a.m. The 5K will begin at 8 a.m. and the children’s race will begin at 8:45 a.m. Awards will be given to the top three overall finishers, as well as the top three finishers in each age group of each race.
