U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson will sponsor her sixth annual Old-fashioned Family Picnic at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Osage Community Centre in Cape Girardeau. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m.

The picnic will include Rep. Kenny Hulshof, a Southeast Missouri native, Jim Talent, a former candidate for governor, and Peter Kinder, president pro tem of the Missouri Senate. Local elected officials also will attend.

The picnic will include a barbecue dinner and all the trimmings. The event has become an August tradition for local Republicans.

Tickets are $10 each, with children under 10 eating free. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling 335-0033 or may be purchased at the door.
