When does greed take effect?

When should it be our dreams that we neglect?

Where should the line be drawn?

Do we pack our hopes away like they're gone?

Is it that we're afraid to take risks?

Afraid of burning the candle down to its wick?

Scared of future things...

Scared of what tomorrow brings...

Are we punishing ourselves for wanting more?

Are we setting our sights too high, hoping they'll soar?

Are we wondering if it's just not right to want things we enjoy? Are we like children, having too much already, but wanting another new toy?

How do we know if we're being selfish?

Or if these thoughts remain a wish?

Should we forget? And just keep plugging along?

With our simple life, with nothing wrong?

Or maybe we think we're not good enough,

That we don't have what it takes to make it through when times get tough

The coward's way out says there's too much greed,

When maybe a challenge is what we really need

Which direction do we go? What road do we take?

How will we know when to hit the brakes?

Follow our hearts, think with our head,

And maybe one day, these decisions, we won't dread
