Steve and Jane Lowes of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Michelle Lowes, to Lawrence Barrett Rice. He is the son of Larry and Dorothy Rice of Dexter, Mo. Steve and Jane Lowes of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Michelle Lowes, to Lawrence Barrett Rice. He is the son of Larry and Dorothy Rice of Dexter, Mo.

Lowes is a 1999 graduate of Central High School, and attended Southeast Missouri State University. She is employed at Broussard's Cajun Cuisine.

Rice is a 1996 graduate of Dexter High School, and a 2001 graduate of Southeast University. He is employed at Outback Steakhouse.

An Oct. 12 wedding is planned at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
