Riley Knight, fifth grader at Cape Girardeau Middle School and member of the Math Olympiad team, walked away with first-place in the problem-solving competition at the regional math contest at Southeast Missouri State University. That win earned Riley the privilege of competing at the state level held at Missouri State University in Springfield, where she finished ninth in the state! According to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Cape Middle School enjoyed an impressive 13.4% improvement in math skills on the MAP (Missouri Assessment Program) in 2008.
