Major Tommy Sowers served his Country 11 years. He was deployed twice to Irag and he served in Kosovo. Tommy led an Operational Detachment-Alpha (A-Team)of Green Berets. He has been awarded The Combat Infrantryman's Badge and two Bronze Stars. He is Ranger, HALO and jumpmaster qualified.

Tommy was educated in public schools in Rolla, Mo. He attended Duke University. After four years as a combat engineer, he was selected as an Ambassadorial Scholar by Rotary District 6080 in Southern Missouri. He earned Masters of Science in Public Policy with the mark of "Distinction" awarded to the top three graduates. He is completing his PhD in Government at the London School of Economics.

Tommy taught from 2004-2006 as an Assistant Professor at West Point's Department of Social Sciences. He was nominated for the APGAR Award for Excellence in teaching.

Major Sowers is vying for the 8th District Representative seat. He will be speaking at Dexter Barbeque(236 S. Braodview) Thursday, April 8th at 5:PM The public is invited to attend.
