RaeAnne Alpers, instructional coach at Cape Central Junior High School and an Ed.D candidate at Saint Louis University, has been named assistant principal at Cape Central Middle School. She will assume her new duties in August.

Alpers received her bachelor of science degree in English and journalism from Murray State University, and her master of science in English from Southeast Missouri State University. She also has a master of education from William Woods University. She expects to complete her doctorate in educational leadership in May 2014.

The Paducah, KY, native worked one semester as interim assistant principal at Cape Central Junior High School and five years as an English teacher and yearbook-newspaper advisor at Cape Central High School. She also was a high school English teacher for ten years in the Scott County R-4 School District and an extension program facilitator at William Woods University. Mrs. Alpers is married, a mother of two children and a Cape Girardeau resident.
