Twenty six members of Cape Central High School's Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter recently attended the 2014 District 15 FBLA Leadership Conference held on February 20, 2014 at the Southeast Missouri State University.

FBLA is a career and technical student organization for all high school students participating in business programs. Many members and advisers representing 13 chapters throughout the region met to elect district officers, transact business of the district chapter, and compete in the district leadership awards program.

Delegates representing the Cape Central Chapter in the district competitive leadership awards program were and qualifying for State competition are: 1st Job Interview -- Josh Greaser, 1st Place Economics -- Josh Greaser, 1st Place Business Math -- Reed Dickson, 1st Place Business Procedures -- Alex Mehner, 1st Public Speaking 2 -- Emily Diamond, 2nd Place Intro to Business Communications -- Reed Dickson, 2nd Place Personal Finance -- Alex Mehner, 2nd Place Business Communications -- Emily Diamond, 2nd Place Business Math -- Brent Tiemann, 3rd Future Business Leader -- Aaron Mehner, 3rd Place Computer Problem Solving -- Brad Orenstein, 4th Place Intro to Business Communications -- Megan Westcott, 4th Place Health Care Administration -- Tyrus Ayers, 5th Place Accounting 1 --Tyler Myers. (The first place winners in performance events and the top five winners in written events will represent District 15 at the State Leadership Conference in Columbia, April 13-15, 2014)

Other winners not advancing to state include: 2nd Place Business Presentation -- Darvile Hopkins, 2nd Place Business Ethics -- Davis Deimund, Rachel Long, 2nd Place Spreadsheet Applications -- Micahia Session, 5th Client Service -- Megan Westcott, 5th Public Speaking 1 -- Anne Wilferth.

Theresa Taylor is the local chapter adviser and accompanied the students to the conference. She has taught business at Cape Central and been the FBLA adviser for twelve years. "I am extremely proud of how well all the kids did. They are an excellent group of students!"
