Troop 5 of Cape Girardeau Boy Scouts; Dylan Hackler, Alex Huggins and Garrett Auer earned the Fish and Wildlife Merit Badge on Sunday, Oct. 26th at S-F Scout Ranch near Fredericktown, Mo. These scouts helped construct about 25 fish habitat called SPIDER BLOCKS for use in Nims Lake located on the 5,200 acre ranch. Nims Lake at the time of its construction was the second largest privately owned man made lake in Missouri. The additional habitat will encourage plant and fish growth for many years to come. The scouts also cleared brush and overgrowth from the lake shoreline to allow access for fishing. In completion of the merit badge the scouts learned about possible careers in conservation from members of the Missouri Dept. of Conservation.
