The month of April is designated as National Donate Life Month. Various activities take place each year in the month of April to encourage individuals to register as Organ, Eye, & Tissue Donors. This year the Scott City Rams Baseball Team and the Lady Rams Softball Team participated in a "Playing 4 Life" game on April 23, 2015 in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Mid-America Transplant Services (MTS) & Organ Donation. Together, the two teams helped in raising over $3000.00 to support MTS. Ray's of Kelso joined efforts to raise funds & awareness for Organ Donation in memory of local organ donor Dominic Hooper with a benefit night on April 17th where 20% of sales ($412.60) was donated to MTS. Several businesses in the Scott City and Kelso areas have also helped play a part in awareness by displaying ribbons throughout the month of April to support Organ Donation. Burger King and The Bank of Missouri, both of Scott City, promoted awareness by wearing Donate Life t-shirts on April 17th 2015. The City of Scott City MO issued a proclamation declaring April of every year Organ Donation Month and specifically the 3rd Friday of every April as Organ Donation Day. Students of Scott City High School displayed green ribbons on their vehicles in honor of their classmate and friend Dominic.
