CARBONDALE- SIU’s Air Force ROTC held its annual Field Training Exercise (FTX) this past Saturday at the SIU police shooting range. This exercise is meant to prepare the sophomore cadets for Field Training this summer, which will be taking place at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center in Mississippi.

During the exercise, cadets were taught basic medical techniques, base entry procedures, firearm safety, and how to build defensive fighting positions. After the educational lessons, cadets were placed in leadership positions and were evaluated based on basic leadership skills and capabilities.

This exercise is an event that cadets look forward to every year. It gives those leaving for Field Training this summer one last chance to perform and a boost of confidence as well.
