The Brain Injury & Stroke Resource Group of Cape Girardeau delivered 'Eggs of Hope' Saturday March 24th to Heartland Care and Rehab and to the Lutheran Home Assistant Living West. Then on March 27th they delivered to Saint Francis Medical Center Neuro Rehab floor, Southeast Missouri Hospital Neuro Rehab floor, and their last stop was the Missouri Veterans Home for this Easter season. 'Eggs of Hope' are plastic eggs suspended on a ribbon with an inspirational quote attached. The egg itself has nothing in it but hopes and prayers for a speedy recovery. This marks the second year of doing this service to the community.

It all arrived from when one of the members of the group had received her first 'Egg of Hope' when she was in the hospital 16 years ago March of 2002. Elizabeth Schott wanted to give back the joy she felt when she received her 'Egg of Hope' during a stay in the hospital over Easter. "It's not fun being in a hospital and especially when it's a holiday" says Elizabeth, "giving 'Eggs of Hope' to those in the hospital now is my way of saying thanks to those who gave one to me 16 years ago."

The patients in the hospital get an encouraging message that they do have a chance of recovery, the ones handing out the eggs have been through it and know what the patients are feeling and their fears. This gives them a perspective that all is not lost.

Our group meets the first Monday of each month at the Cape Girardeau Public Library in one of the conference rooms. Meetings start at 6:00/6:30 and last for about 1-1/2 hours. For more information please contact Marilyn Schott at 573-275-7552. or go to biamo.org for more information.
