The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center celebrated National Public Health Week by hosting a Public Health Fair on April 15 & 16, 2014.

The Health Fair provided the community with an opportunity to learn more about the services that are offered by the Health Center by viewing displays from the WICC Clinic, Environmental Department, Rural Health Clinic, Communicable Disease Clinic, Immunization Clinic, Daycare Consultants, and other Health Center services. Community partners that also provided information and displays included Southeast HEALTH, Saint Francis Medical Center, American Cancer Association, and Missouri Coalition of Health.

Attendants were able to receive a free blood pressure and weight checks, and were encouraged to participate in stroke and heart attack risks evaluations. The Health Center and participating agencies provided many free items at the display tables for participants.

Participants were also encouraged to fill out an attendance form to be entered into the drawing for attendance prizes. The attendance prizes consisted of baskets filled with numerous health related items, including a cookbook from Southeast Health. The three winners were: Judy C., Marie J, and Dorothy A, congratulations ladies!

This was the first Public Health Fair hosted by the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center during National Public Health Week. Plans are being made to make this an annual event during National Public Health week, which is observed during the first week in April.

The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center would like to thank all who participated this year.
