On September 16th, 2014 at 6:30pm, the Cape County Tea Party (CCTP) will hold its open monthly meeting at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. The meeting is called the Third Tuesday Tea Time and is held on the Third Tuesday of each month to continue the work to complete our Mission as stated below.

Europe Confronts Islam:

Is it ISIL, ISIS or Islamic State? Whatever you call the jihadist group known for killing dozens of people at a time, carrying out public executions, beheadings, crucifixions and other brutal acts, there is no denying they have captured the world's attention and pose an imminent and ever-expanding threat. Their aspirations go far beyond the countries of their namesake: Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Iran, and the Levant.

While they threaten Jihad and terrorist acts on America, the proximity to Europe guarantees that the Continent will be the first feel the pains from ISIL's Islamic Extremism.

Our speaker this month, Dr. David Cameron will review the current situation in the Middle East and the effect it's soon to have on Europe - Europe and then America.

David Cameron

Originally from North Carolina, our speaker for the September TTTT has a Bachelor of Arts in German and Russian from University of North Carolina, a Masters of Arts in Russian from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Minnesota.

His area of expertise is modern European history, with a particular emphasis on modern German and Russian history. He has traveled extensively in Europe and lived in Germany from 1985-1986 and again from 1992-1993. During 1985-1986 he studied at the University of Göttingen and from 1992-1993 he was at the University of Cologne. Over the last 20 years he has traveled to Europe numerous times to pursue research in archives in Russia, the Ukraine, and Germany.

He has published several articles and given numerous professional/scholarly presentations on topics related to modern European, German, and Russian history.

A history professor at Southeast since 1997, we very much look forward to Dr. David Cameron joining us for the September TTTT.
