During Saint Francis Medical Center's Coaches and Parents Clinics on March 24, both coaches and parents will learn how to keep their student athletes healthy. The Coaches Clinic will run from 8 am to 2:30 pm, and the Parents Clinic will run from 6 to 9 pm.
"We are adding the Parents Clinic for the first time this year because we have seen such involvement from parents in their children's athletic activities," says Mark Donelson, ATC, assistant manager of Outpatient Rehabilitation Services at Saint Francis.
Both clinics will feature Chris Nowinski, president and CEO of Sports Legacy Institute, who will speak about the dangers of multiple concussions. Sports journalist Mark Hyman will talk about his book "Until It Hurts;" Saint Francis orthopaedic surgeon James M. Edwards, MD, will address shoulder injuries; and Saint Francis obstetrician/gynecologist Wendi M. Carns, MD, FACOG, will speak about issues affecting female athletes.
