The Brain Injury and Stroke Support Group was greeted by smiles and gratitude as they handed out 'Eggs of Hope' at Saint Francis Medical Center, April 16th. The group has been delivering Eggs of Hope for 6 years (2 years were off limits due to COVID).
What are 'Eggs of Hope' you ask? They are merely plastic Easter eggs suspended by a ribbon with an inspirational note attached. The eggs are empty except the hopes and wishes for a speedy recovery. The patients faces light up when we enter their rooms to deliver their gifts.
We are often asked what they have to do to receive the egg and we tell them it is out gift to them, it comes free of charge with hopes, good wishes for speedy recovery.
Thank you Kristy Friedrich, Elizabeth Schott, and Marilyn R. Schott for delivering the eggs this year. Not only do the patients like the eggs the nurses and therapist also like to see the joy put on their patients faces.
If you know of anyone needing a support group for brain injury or stroke contact The group meets every month on the first Monday, at 6:00pm inside the Cape Girardeau Public Library. Or email tristate.group@yahoo.com.
