For the four years of the Civil War, Fort D protected the city of Cape Girardeau from attack. Now the old fort will come to life once more.

WHO: The Turner Brigade (Civil War re-enactors) and friends from the Civil War Roundtable of Cape Girardeau.

WHAT: Re-enactors will demonstrate life in a Civil War fort during the time of the American Civil War including:

-Civil War camp life.

-Infantry drill and rifle loading and firing.

-Artillery drill and firing.

-Ladies fashions.

-Hands-on drill experience for visitors.

WHERE: Fort D Historic Site is an original earthworks fort dating from 1861. It is located off of Sprigg Street, four blocks south of MO Rte 74.

WHEN: Saturday, July 4th, 9:00 A.M. -- 3:00 P.M.

COST: None, admission is FREE.
