Aug. 28-Sept. 1 - The Bollinger County Museum of Natural History will be open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from noon-4:30pm for the Labor Day weekend. Visit to enjoy dinosaurs, Native American exhibits, Ice Age Mammals exhibits, mounted wildlife, new Forestry exhibit, play area, gift shop, and more. New exhibits have arrived. See Pterygotus, a life-sized 9 foot sea scorpion replica. Explore more of the sea world in the Fossil Fishes exhibit. Fishes succeeded in becoming the dominant mobile marine animal. The new Badlands Fossils exhibit features fossils of the Oligocene Epoch (34-23mya). This exhibit includes a fossil skull of a leopard sized predator, Hoplophoneus, an early mammal equipped with saber teeth.

Aug. 30 - Castor River Park Duck Races will provide you with a fun afternoon on Saturday, August 30 at 3:00pm. Children receive free ice cream on Friday, August 29 when you purchase your duck chances for the August 30th duck races. For only a dollar each you can purchase a chance or several chances to win a small prize from the store, if your duck is among the first 3 to reach the end of the course. There is also a prize for the last duck to finish. The second set of races is the big ducks. Winners of this event will share in a 50/50 pot. All proceeds from these fun and exciting races are put back into the camp to provide new play ground equipment, a fireworks display, free chili and hotdogs on designated days, and other improvements. Don't miss out on the fun of the races along with all their normal camping, fishing, and swimming fun!

Aug. 30 - The Marble Hill Optimists Club rodeo is scheduled for August 30 at the Optimist horse arena in Marble Hill. Events include Calf Riding - $15, Youth Chute Dogging - $16, PeeWee/Jr./Sr. Barrels - $15, Adult Barrel/Poles - $25, Jr./Sr. Breakaway - $15, Adult Breakaway -$30, Team Roping - $30, Adult Calf Roping - $30, Steer Riding - $16, Open Chute Dog - $20, PeeWee/Jr./Sr. poles - $15, Jr./Sr. Goat Tying - $16, Adult Goat Tying - $15, Youth Calf Roping - $20, Jr. Bulls - $20. Books open Monday & Tuesday before the Rodeo at 6:30p.m. Must call in to enter 573-624-2830. Slak is at 10a.m. with the evening performance starting at 7:00p.m.

Aug. 29 & Aug. 30 - Whippoorwill Lake Family Campground will kick off their Labor Day weekend on Friday night August 29 with a Friday Night Movie on the lake. A Movie Screen will be set up in the Lake, about 50 Feet out towards the swimming dock on the lake. A great place to watch the movie is the beach or even from across the lake since the screen will show on both sides. The movie planed is Rio 2 and will begin at dark.

Saturday, August 30, will bring a live country concert from 6pm-9pm. "Wild Country" with Shannon Stewart, David Kent, Dee Becker and Dave Summers will perform.

Aug. 30 - Patton Lions Club Lawnmower Racing will get your engines revving on Saturday, August 30. The excitement starts with time trials at 5:00pm and the main races at 6:00pm. Bring your whole family for an evening of racing for only $5 a car to watch the races. Food and refreshments are available. No coolers or alcohol please. The event takes place at the Patton Saddle Club and is sponsored by Patton Lions Club.

Aug. 29 & 30 - The Mustard Seed Boutique Great Labor Day Sale is being held on Friday, August 29 and Saturday August 30. Stop by the store at 205 Graham Street in Marble Hill for great deals from 10:00am-5pm.

Sept. 1 - Rockin' JK Arena will have a special Labor Day Barrel Race on Monday, September 1. Trainers will start at 10:00a.m. and the main show will take place at 12:00p.m. The gate fee is only $5 a vehicle. Call John at 573-238-5987 for more information.

Aug. 29 & 30 - Massey Log House is open to visitors from 8:00am-2:00pm on Saturday, August 29 and from 1:00pm-4:00pm pm Sunday, August 30. The Massey Log House is a great place to experience everyday life from the 1800s. The Massey Log House was built circa 1869. The four-pen structure with full porches is a good example of "dog trot" and "V" notched log house and is filled with many historical items of everyday life from the 1800 era. Aug. 31 - Side Street Band Annual Labor Day Picnic and Concert kicks off Sunday, August 31 in Magnolia Park in Marble Hill, starting at 2:00pm. Bring your lawn chairs and get ready for some great country music from some great local talent. Some of the talent will be Side Street Band, Shannon Cox, Jill Hyde, and many more. Come spend the day with us.

Aug. 30 - Bollinger County Farmers Market will be open from 8:00am-12pm. Stop by for locally grown produce, flowers, vegetables, baked goods, homemade soaps, and more! The

Bollinger County Farmers Market is located behind the Bollinger County Coop at 200 St. Hwy 34 E., Marble Hill.

Sept 1 - The Bollinger County Antique Tractor Club will have a tractor pull on September 1 at 10am. The tractor pull will take place at the club's grounds on Highway B in Scopus. For more information call 573-866-2243.
